Why is antifreeze coming out of your radiator cap but its new and is showing no signs at all of a blown headgasket what else could cause this problem?

Are you sure that isn't antifreeze and if so that would indicate the radiator is defective. There is a transmission oil cooler in the radiator.

Drain the radiator into a container. Remove the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing at the engine. Remove the two bolts and remove the housing and thermostat. Clean both surfaces and install the new thermostat and seal and reinstall the housing. reinstall the radiator hose, tighten the clamps and refill with a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water.jd

Many people associate the smell of antifreeze with an overheated engine. The only reason we do that is because we certainly smell antifreeze when the engine is overheated and blowing out antifreeze, but if there is just a slow leak of antifreeze and we smell that, we MIGHT be able to convince ourselves that the engine is overheated. Check for coolant leaks around the engine, radiator and heater hoses. After cooling down and drying out, antifreeze will leave a blue/green powdery subastance. Engine is overheating. it could also just be that your radiator cap is bad and allowing the pressure to release too soon. Keep an eye on your temperature gage, if is showing hot or over heated then check coolant level and possibly water pump problem or head gasket, if not overly hot then suspect the radiator cap.
Why Lumina radiator electric fan will not run?
What can the problem be as my 1998 Lumina car is losing missing anti frezze. When I fill the radiator my heater is starting to give off heat. At times their is a red light to goes on and off at the right side and bottom of the dash board. I have no idea what this light is showing as to the missing anti frezze. I have the same problem in my 1995 Lumina, and I have to replace approximately 1/2 gallon of antifreeze approximately every 6 weeks or so. This would be most noticeable when you see a puddle left underneath the car where the radiator sits. You want to find out what size the radiator is by using a tape measure across the top of the radiator. For the '95, there are 3 different core sizes, so I have to match mine to the correct size. Any time you see that Low Coolant light go on, you know that you need to refill your coolant. Wait until the engine has cooled off before refilling though.

You probebly have a leaking headgasket. Exhoust gasses ecape in your cooling system and couse a high presure. if the hoses are hard im pretty shure that's your problem. if you loosen the cap on the reservoire all the little compressed gas bubbles in your system expant cousing the reservoire to run over. if you also have white smoke or a bad running motor in the morning after starting for like 30 sec im 99% sure it is a leaking headgasket

At the top of your radiator, there is a radiator hose that goes from the radiator to the engine. Where the hose connects to the engine is where the thermostat is. There is a thermostat housing held on by two bolts which will have to be removed.

I don't have a schematic for the radiator, but I believe the IN is the bottom hose on the radiator, and the OUT is the top.It really shouldn't matter because it is just a loop through the radiator.Take Care,Greg
