Astrology is pseudoscience for a number of reasons. First, a basic tenet, that the stars and planets affect us, has no method of affecting a person. Next, assuming that for some reason or another that astrology works (which it doesn't), there are so many stars and planets that are unaccounted for in astrologers methodology that they would be inaccurate anyway. Finally, astrology has not been shown to work, and uses a method called cold reading to make a answer that will work for just about everyone.
We know the sun causes us to awaken and get active, or if setting we get tired and
sleep. So we reason that the sun causes daily changes in sleeping activity and this is
a beginning science fact, to believe that would NOT be pseudoscience. If three astrologers
say the moon is causing 3 different things and each thing is rather different, well then
2 or more astrologers may be mistaken or all may be mistaken or all may be pseudoscience and using false facts with unlikely facts. Astrology is not logical to cause the same event in most all persons, nor used
in court, or by police, unless the person believed the astrology was reality. That does
not mean astrology is false, it is just hard to prove and the opinions and times and
associated planets are so complex when mixed with any individuals previous experiences
and internal mind ideas that to predict the exact future event or tendency requires a lot
more than what is claimed. So to say all persons born January 6 and 7 in Nigeria will
have digestive problems and choke on January 6 and 7 next year sounds scientific but
would normally be called pseudoscience. Astrology is more vague and and hard to pin
down than outright false scientific statements. So the entire science of astrology is called pseudoscience, a proclaimed science, that is not based in logic and scientific method
and does not make precise predictions or calculations that can be tested well.
Astrology IS considered a science. What is NOT considered a science is soothsaying, fortune-telling, most psychics, or any Mediumism. At the point we all come into Gravity (out of water), very small parts of our brains are not completely set, and the location of each major body of mass, and therefore gravity, effects which direction these are pulled in. They do NOT effect which boy will ask you out on any given day, or what your boss will have to say when you make a careless error! They Do effect some of your motivations, strengths and weaknesses, emotions and actions. This science has been studied as long as humans existed. If someone told you it was not considered a science, they are either lying or misinformed.
To truly answer this question you'd have to define what you mean by a science, and make criteria and then see if astrology fits into these criteria.
Many people who say its not a science and you cant collect truly falsifiable data and make a hypothesis, with high controls and do a traditional scientific experiment.
However you can definitely see the correlation between where the celestical bodies are and how that can affect you in some ways.
Astrology is entirely a pseudosicence. It has no basis in fact and no logical rationalisation is possible.
There is no, and exactly absolutely no, correlation between the position of any celestial body, the time of the year you were born in, and your personality or physical characteristics.
Several reasons:
In fact, if gravity affected you at birth, where the MRI in the hospital would matter more than Jupiter!
Astrology is considered unscientific because they say it is based on fiction. How can someone's personal traits and individual values be determined by the date of their birth? Someone's personality is determined by their personal experiences and the events that they've experienced, right? However, this is a misunderstanding. Astrology is more of a determining factor in someone's set nature rather than their individual traits.
It is not proven that the positions of the planets and the stars actually affect the lives of individuals. Although one person may contain all the characteristics of their own astrological sign, this may be due to the fact that said person has grown up to believe that what their horoscope says of them must be true - and so has moulded their own personality to fit the horoscopes.
Although astrology does involve a bit of maths and astronomy - in determining the movement of celestial bodies - the rest is mostly guesswork.
it has assertions that can not be proven via the scientific method.
Just because it has the word science in it doesn't mean it's an actual science.
Astrology is not a science because it is not based on evidence and has not been properly explained.
Nowadays, it is not. Astronomy has taken out all non demonstrated and all non scientific aspects of Astrology and has taken its place in the physical sciences. However, in the past, astrology could be considered as a science as well as alchemy was replaced by chemistry.
Astrologyis considered a psuedo-science because it does not present any testable truths about nature. Astronomy on the other hand is a true scientific endeavour!
There is no relationship between earth science and astrology as astrology is a pseudo science. There is however an interrelationship between earth science and astronomy as these are both true sciences.
Astrology is a pseudo-science and not to be relied upon.
Astrology is a pseudo-science and not to be relied upon.
I don't believe in astrology. Astrology and astronomy used to be the same science.
Astrology
Is astrology still believed in the modern world?
It doesnt-its based on the same deductive reasoning as the accepted sciences Its also closely related to astronomy and physics its just that religion has distorted the image and society has not promoted it in schools However some countrys base their culture on astrology as the Romans and Greeks did Our library system has put it in section 130 and their are worldwide many associations of this science
