They run mono, and are if you have the Jbl systemin your Lincoln these 6x8 speakers are used purely for bass.

Depends if you are building heavy bass system with quite a few subs then a mono amp would be suggested but if it is just a single sub just for a standard bass upgrade then a 2 channel amp would be fine you can still use a mono amp on one sub just remember to take into perspective the RMS rating and the Impedance on both the Subs and the Amp

A mono amp is an amplifier that puts out only one channel of sound, as opposed to a stereo amp that puts out two channels of sound. A mono amp is generally used for extremely low frequencies (ie bass) that are channeled into a single subwoofer. It doesn't matter that both stereo channels are combined for these low bass frequencies because you couldn't tell which channel the sounds are coming from anyway (because you feel the sound pressure more than hear the sound).

At the rear of the receiver there is a single RCA jack (phono socket) that is marked "audio out" and "sub-woofer". This is a mono feed that can be connected to a powered sub bass unit. It will not drive an un-powered bass speaker that does not have an internal amplifier. If the bass speaker is not powered, the audio out from the receiver can be taken to a single channel of another amplifier and the bass speaker then connected to the speaker output of the amplifier.
