WARNING!! its not a good idea for you to adust the timing because it very dangerous for your car, your safety. i recommend that you see a mechanic. doing this yourself requires a lot of experience in car mechanics. if you have the experience. then you observe the timing belt and the pullys. also contact the subaru dealer and ask to be transfered to the mechanic and ask him/her for the timing configuration for your car.
Ask the mechanic who is willing to do the job. No other answer has any meaning.

Unbolt the battery for at least ten seconds. Mechanic, Why are the parking lights flashing after new battery installation?
Probably a dirty distributor, broken cap, or broken igniter. Its best to have a mechanic that is very familiar with Subarus to work on them. Subarus don't have your average motor and mechanics unfamiliar with Subaru's can easily make a fatal mistake in working on them.
i just had a new clutch in my95 wrx and i stood and watched, its worth getting a trained mechanic to do it to be honest.
