Historically, drinking wine has been seen as part of French culture, along with tobacco smoking. However, both have come under attack within France. Today, fewer and fewer French people drink wine, which is being replaced by other beverages.

Crêpes are not that important to French, and in any case no more than would pancakes be essential to the British or Americans. That seems to be one of the cliches that can be found in English-speaking countries, especially the US, about France. But crêpes are just one out of the hundreds of recipes and dishes of traditional French cuisine, and a specialty in Brittany, the westernmost region of France.

They are not. Cheese are popular foods in France, and you may have trouble to find good Croissants elsewhere, but they are definitively not the national food. No Frenchman would live eating only that; the diet has at least the variety that exists in any country.

Cheese is important to the french culture because they smell like cheese and don't go and eat it because you don't know where they make or how they make it.
