Coal is of limited value to Pakistan because of several factors..firstly it is a fossil fuel that is it exist in limited amount and if the use continues it will exhaust..Pakistan produces a low quality coal(LIGNITE).It is volatile that is it has a low boiling point and because of high moisture and ash content it has a low heating value..it even badly deteriorated during storage..Many industries do not use coal today because coal mining operations require lot of improvement and modernization..Although new reserves of coal have been discovered as 7508 million tons of coal have been discovered in 8 major fields in Lower Sindh..And as the focus of the coal policy is on power generation through gasification of coal,the conversion of coal in coal gas which is made up of carbon monoxide,methane and hydrogen pollutes the environment...
