Compressed means that you've taken something that is at one size, and then forced all of it into a smaller size.

The only way to get the same amount of stuff that was in a bigger space into a smaller space is by packing it tighter.

And when you pack something tighter each part will push against the neighboring parts harder than they did before. And when parts starts to push more against other parts that means that the pressure goes up.

Why do clouds disappear with high air pressure?

In a high pressure system air sinks and is compressed. As the air is compressed it heats up, which can cause clouds to evaporate.

What is the air pressure is like at higher altitudes?

If this is about weather, then high pressure is usually related to fine and warm weather. If this is about engineering, then anything goes. When air is compressed, it gets hot, but eventually it'll cool off and then you'll have high pressure and low temperature.

What propels a paintball?

A compressed C02 tank or High Pressure Air tank propels the paintball.

What exactly is compressed air?

Air that is held inside one of several types of special containers at a decreased volume is known as compressed air. For the air to be compressed, its pressure inside the container must be at a higher pressure than that of the atmospheric air outside of it.

Where air is sinking high pressure rainfall is likely as the air sinks?

No. When air sinks in a high pressure system it is compressed and warms up. This tends to cause clouds to evaporate and inhibits convection, thus making rain less likely.

What is an air receiver?

An air receiver is a storage tank used in compressed air systems to store compressed air for future use. It helps stabilize the pressure in the system, reduces pulsations in the compressed air flow, and helps protect against pressure fluctuations.

What are air compressed cars?

Air compressed cars are cars powered by compressed air. A compresser is used to generate high pressure air, and that air is then in turn used to propell the car. An electric engine and or a gas engine is still needed to run the compresser but unlike hybrids and other combination vehicles the air compressed cars use either of these engins to power the compressor only.

What is high pressure and where is it located?

This question is so broadly based there is no way to answer except high pressure is higher than low pressure. High pressure can be found anywhere. The Hot Water in a tea kettle , the steam in a steam iron, the compressed air in a compressor.

What is the difference between compressed air and n2 in paintball?

"Air", "Compressed air", "High Pressure air", "nitrogen", "N2" and "Nitro" are all the same gas, these are just different nicknames for it. The correct term is High Pressure Air, or HPA. Since air is mostly Nitrogen, it is given other names. The Air also contains CO2, but in paintball Co2 is separated pure liquid Carbon-dioxide, which is incompatible with HPA tanks and guns.

Is compressed air more buoyant than atmospheric air?

Since weight is the measure of an object's gravitational pull, the compressed air does not weigh more. The difference is in the density of the air. A tank filled with compressed air will weigh more than a tank that is filled with air at normal atmospheric pressure.

Does air possess potential energy?

Compressed air does, but not air at normal atmospheric pressure
