you get to view a similar sinario from different character's perspectives. it also helps you understand why a certain character does something later on of before in the play. e.g someone is talking about divorce and how its stupid and the protagonst slaps them and runs off stage. later on there could be a cross cutting scene between the parents point of view of how they behave talking to each other about divorce (a civil manor) and from the point of view of the protagonist, where the parents are shouting about divorce (in an aggressive manor).
