Ergonomics is the relantionship between a person and their workplace. Kinda like 'workstation feng shui'. It makes sure a worker is safe at work. For example, if someones chair is not at the right position and causes back pain a worker may not be able to do a good job. This is considered poor ergonomics. So in answer to your question, ergonomics should not be prevented, at least not good ergonomics, because it helps workers be safe and do the best job they can.
