Because of earths rotation, predominantly the winds in the temperate regions of the earth flow from west to east with the effect being most intense in a concentrated band of winds called the jet stream. When flying from Europe to Japan, this westerly wind is pushing the airplane forward, making it go faster. When going back, you are flying into the wind, slowing the airplane down. This is especially true if your path is taking you along a strong jet stream, which could be screaming along at 200 miles per hour.

How long does it takes to travel to Guam from Dallas Texas by air?

There are no direct commercial flights from Dallas, TX to Guam, so the answer would depend on the route taken. The most direct routes are through Honolulu, HI and Narita, Japan. In either case, flying time is roughly 17-18 hours, not including layovers. Interestingly, the flying time the other direction would be a bit shorter because of prevailing winds (16-17 hours).
