It depends on how you look like it. 100 years ago, you didn't have the ideas of bacteria and other germs. So in that way, today's food is much safer. But in the idea of safer as in, 'fattty', it's not safer. 100 years ago, sugary, packaged foods were not around. So food today is not safer for your cholesterol, but safer for colon:)

Actually, they aren't that much different. We think that the earlier time was safer and that people were happier, but this is all perception. It was no safer or less safer than we are today. In some respects we have things that make it safer than the 1950's. A cell phone is one thing that makes it safer. Instead of having to look for a phone booth we carry the phone with us. Cars are safer. In the 1950's there were no seat belts and air bags in cars. Airlines are safer because of the new methods of air traffic control and computers. These are just a few things that make it safer today.

There is one type of anesthesiologist. But they can do different things, there are Anest. that work exclusively for ER/ICU and other specialty wards, and there are OR Anest. there are also CRNA's (Certified Registered Nurse of Anesthesia) They work under an Anesthesiologist, and pretty much do the same exact job with a little bit less responsibility.

Most general dentists do not provide general anesthesia or sedation. You would want to see an oral surgeon for this. It is not unreasonable to want to be put to sleep for wisdom tooth removal, particularly if all four are removed at once. However, understand that anesthesia increases the risk of complications significantly. And it is much more expensive. Having said that, millions of wisdom teeth are removed every year, both with general anesthesia and without, and the vast majority are without problems. General anesthesia can make it a far less emotionally traumatic and far more pleasant. If you are totally freaked out about getting your wisdom teeth out, see an oral surgeon and discuss your options.
