Generic medicines use drugs that have been around for many years that have had the patents on them revoked because of their age. This means companies who produce them do not have to pay any rights to the owners of the drugs, who can charge what they like to companies who wish to produce them. This is the case for newer medicines under patent.
This has a lot to do with "copyrights" and companies urge for extencive profit.
When medicine get "old", they are not protected as such anymore and other companies can make it without paying copyrights.
This makes it possible legally for other companies to make same medicine and compete in the market against the "branded" ones.
Normally same medicine, just less costly because they try to compete pricewise rather than telling you they are the best because they have a name of a king :-)

Generic drugs are often more in expensive and more basic. take vicodin for example, Watson being the original vicodin, but there is oxycodone and hydro codone. Just like vicodin, their pain killers, but only contain the necessary components for killing pain. no extra un-needed chemicals.
-DRUG MAN!-
One reason generic drugs are less expensive is because generic manufacturers don't have the investment costs of the developer of a new drug. Extensive research and development are unnecessary, in turn, it is less costly to produce generic drugs than brand name drugs.
But themain reasonis simple economics - supply and demand. The original developer of the drug is given a monopoly to sell it exclusively for some period of time. This is a reward for going through the risk and expense to make the drug (otherwise it would not be wrth it and we would have no new drugs). As the onlysource of the drug they can command a high price. When the drug goes off patent and more companies start to make it the price usually drops due to competition.
Generic medicines are carbon copies of branded medicines and for finding the list of generic medicines and their substitutes you have to check the online healthcare websites which have drug database. You are always advised to seek qualified medical advice before taking/using such medication.
Generics, markedly cheaper therapeutic and chemical equivalents of prescription patented medicines, went into production once the patent protection on a prescription drug expired.
Non-generic medicines are originals drugs that generally cost more then generics
Huge varieties of data are present on internet regarding branded medicine and generic medicines but the question is that where you get the exact knowledge about the medicines.

The generic medicines are much cheaper than the original products, up to 50%. This is an important resource for citizens and the National Health Service. For the first produces a considerable saving on the purchase of drugs that are not reimbursed by the NHS, for the latter, however, it will free up resources to be used in the purchase of very expensive medicinal products (such as some cancer treatments or AIDS) and to increase -
