Zeus is not the god of gods. He was born of Cronus and Rhea and like all gods, he can be killed. He can be injured and weakened. He does sleep and he does walk Midgard (earth) from time to time. However the All Father, Odin, is the god of all gods. He is the Omega. Though he can also die, gods do die, but they come back to life as well. They can do that, their gods!
The Temple which is dedicated to all gods and godesses of the Ancient World and was based in Roma is called the Pantheon, Since the 7th century AD/ CE it has been converted to a Christian Temple.
Zeus, as well as all of the other gods, did not have a last name, according to the Greeks. They only worshiped their gods with one name.
Long ago humans used to think Gods had control of all the world. They believed that the Gods had split the earth taking over small chunks of it each. Zeus was said to rule the sky and Mount Olympus the starting point of all gods. Poseidon was the ruler of the sea. Then there was Hades he ruled the underworld. There are many others. I guess there really is no importance of them. They were just made because no one knew who made earth.
Twelve of them lived on Mount Olympus. There were twelve ruling gods and goddesses, and these lived upon Olympus or upon a heaven called after or above Olympus: nearly all the Greek gods and goddesses had a nature - they represented nature, or emotion, and dwelt on earth, in the sea, or heaven, all rivers were thought to be gods.
They were all named after Greek gods. All except our earth.

if you are speaking of greek mythology, his name is cronos, and he is the father of all of the gods, and treated them all very badly, his wife, the mother of the gods was caia, the earth itself. When the titans were defeated, the gods rendered them all into some kind of torturous prison, worst of all for caia, because she is the earth, unable to move or speak.
The inner planets (except Earth), and in fact all of the planets besides Earth in our solar system, were named after Greek and Roman gods.
because it was different and special of all.... this is the only living planet in the solar system
Earth, just like all the other planets are named after Greek or Roman gods. The word "earth" comes from the Latin word "eorthe". The first people to name earth were the Greeks and Romans. During their time, they believed in gods such as Zeus or Hades or Hera. Earth's Greek name is Gaea, named after the goddess of all elements of life. The Greeks believe she is the creater of all the other gods and goddess and the creater of the universe. Earth's Roman name is Terra Mater which actually means "Mother Earth"
All planets in our solar system except Earth are named after Roman gods. Pluto was the god of the Underworld.
Mother of gods ; earth.
All of the planets, except for Earth, were named after Greek and Roman gods and goddesses. The name Earth is an English/German name which simply means ground. It comes from the Old English words 'eor(th)e' and 'ertha'. In German it is 'erde'. The name Earth is at least 1,000 years old.
