Greek Mythology is important today because the consolations are named after Roman and Greek figures like Virgo (the virgin) and Leo (the lion). Some constellations tell stories like the constellation of Perseus holding Medusa's head. That was the story of how he killed Medusa.
Another reason is that some of our words come from the Greek words and some Greek gods are symbolized in items we use like Nike was one of the gods of athletics and today we have shoes brands named after Nike. Another example is perfume. Some perfume or women's lotion is named after Venus. Venus is the Roman name for Aphrodite the goddess of love and beauty.
