Ibn Battuta is important because of the fact that he actually documented or recorded all of his travels. Wherever he went to and whatever civilizations he encountered, Ibn Battuta always documented his own feelings towards their customs and traditions, political and social setup. His recordings were all put into a book called the Rihla. What is important about this is that without his recordings there would have been many undiscovered civilizations.
