The wafer represents the body of Christ; wine represents His blood. If we treated Communion as just a food or that we can have 'seconds' or have 'more', we reduce it to the mere 'ordinary'. So Communion is restricted as a special Holy Sacrament.

How often should you receive holy communion in Anglican church?

One should never receive Holy Communion more than once per week; otherwise there is a danger of becoming "Holier than Thou." Persons receiving Holy Communion with greater frequency tend to become devout, and once that happens there's just no living with them!

Is it a sin to take communion twice in one day in the Episcopal Church?

No, of course not. Otherwise priests who celebrate (and receive communion) sometimes several times daily would sin more than most! Traditionally in the last century a guideline of 'once a day' was given in some churches, but this was never a hard and fast rule, and was not scriptural anyway. Provided that you receive the bread and wine in the appropriate manner, with love, humility, gratitude, and repentance, it is perfectly Ok to receive communion more than once in a day. I think that God is far more concerned with the contents of our characters and our hearts than on whether or not we receive communion more than once a day. Some people go to church in the morning and then go to a worship service in the afternoon, taking communion both times. It is not inappropriate.

How often should you take Communion?

You may never "take" Holy Communion, you may only "receive" Holy Communion. You should receive Holy Communion as frequently as you can, while you are in a state of grace, and have been fasting. You may not receive Holy Communion more than twice a day, and the second time only if you have been to an entire Mass. If you are not in a state of grace, or are not fasting, or have already received Holy Communion that day, you should never receive.

Can you receive confirmation more than once?

How many times can a Catholic receive communion in a day?

A Catholic may receive Communion twice in one day or three times under certain conditions: Let's say a person attends a Saturday morning Mass and later in the day attends a wedding. The person can receive communion at both Masses. If the same person then attends the Saturday evening anticipated Mass, he/she is free to receive again as that Mass counts as the Sunday obligation.

What do Catholics do every week?

Catholics may receive Holy Communion anytime they are at Mass and are in a state of grace, once a day, and even a second time, if they are at an entire second Mass. If they are not in a state of grace, to receive Holy Communion would be a grave sin of sacrilege.

What is a communion rail in a church?

The communion rail (sometimes called the altar rail) is usually an actual low railiing between where the altar is and where the congregation sits for worship. It is where congregants come to receive communion, kneel to pray or receive blessings from the pastor/priest. Of course, depending on the traditions of the denomination and the local congregation, the "rail" may not be anything more than a physical space.

Can anyone take communion in the Lutheran church?

Can you receive sacraments more than once?

Baptism, marriage, extreme unction and the holy orders. Answer: NO! Those sacraments listed above are one- shots in the Catholic church, with the exception of extreme unction. (If you happen to survive, you can receive extreme unction again at a later date.) Communion and Reconciliation can be repeated regularly. (The seventh sacrament on the list is First Communion, also something you can only do once.)

There would be no problem if he had been widowed between wives.AnswerYou should talk to your church and find out.Catholic AnswerIn the Catholic faith the only way that you can be married more than once is if your spouse dies, as noted above. Because every marriage is "until death do you part." One small problem, no one may TAKE Holy Communion, you may only RECEIVE Holy Communion.
