engine cooling fan should not do this - bad temp sensor likely
Engine temperature rising when the engine is idling is normal. The car is sitting still and no air is entering the engine compartment. This will cause the engine temperature to rise. The cooling fans then come on and the engine returns to a normal temperature. Unless the cooling fans do not bring the temperature down, you have no problems and this is totally normal.
bad temperature sensor
temperature sensor is bad
How- cooling oil why- overheating is bad for the engine parts
You probably don't. The water pump is what circulates coolant through the engine block and the cooling system. The engine will soon overheat if the pump is not functioning. This is a bad thing ~
Check for a bad thermostat, under the housing on the engine end of the top radiator hose.
Check accuracy of gauge with mechanical one Check coolant level Bad thermostat? Cooling system airbound? Cooling fan not working? Water pump not circulating coolant?
No completely separate from engine/cooling system
yes. but there are several other things that can cause it to overheat. not enough coolant, bad belt, radiator blocked, bad thermostat, bad water pump to name a few.
All freeze plugs for engines are below the spark plug side of the engine. They are small round plugs that will pop out if engine freezes in the winter time. This will cause water leaks if they go bad anytime.
Low coolant? Cooling fan not working? Bad thermostat? Cooling system airbound? Water pump not circulating coolant? Radiator core plugged or restricted? Bad radiator cap?
