I think you mean when. Earthquakes are made by two plates in the ground moving against each other. Its it to predict where because if you are near a plate boundaries (where two plates meet) then it is more likely for an earthquake to occur.

Can geologists predict exactly where an earthquake will occur?

No.

Why do not any of you know the answer for what time eartquakes occur?

About 300 or so measurable earthquakes occur around the world each day. So far, it is not possible to predict the time when an earthquake will occur. The best scientists can do is predict the frequency (once in how many years) an earthquake of a specific intensity will occur on a given fault line.

When could the next large earthquake occur on the san Andreas fault?

Around 30 years is what scientists predict

Is earthquake a type of tsunami?

No, a tsunami MAY occur after an earthquake, if the epicenter of the quake was underwater. Tsunamis do not always follow an underwater earthquake, though. That adds to people's uncertainty after a quake, especially about whether they should flee to higher ground after a quake.

Can scientist predict earthquakes?

Earthquake prediction is currently not possible, as such, seismologists will attempt to quantify the risk posed by a particular fault zone rather than state exactly when an earthquake will occur. For more information, please see the related question.

Where volcanoes and earthquakes occur?

Anywhere where the earths plates meet. Earthquakes occur only were there is an epicenter. Were ever the epicenter is the earthquake will happen.

When is the next England earthquake?

It is impossible to predict when an earthquake will occur.

Where is the first motion of an earthquake occur?

It is called the epicenter which is the starting point.

Can geologists predict exactly where an earthquake will occur?

No.

What is earthquake magnitude occur in Nepal?

I t was 6.9magnitude earthquake which epicenter was in border of india and nepal

What is a person who tries to predict when and where an earthquake will occur?

A volcanologist

What can help predict when a volcano or earthquake will occur?

one way to predict when a volcano will occur is with the technology scientist use to determine when and where an eruption will occur.

Can you compare the strength and frequency method for predicting earthquakes?

The Strength and Frequency Method only predicts how often an earthquake of a particular magnitude will occur. The Gap Hypothesis only predicts where another earthquake is most likely to occur along a fault line. Neither method will predict where the next earthquake will occur in the world, or predict an earthquake happening in a random spot, or predict both the location and strength of an earthquake.

Why does the greatest shaking of the ground occur near an earthquake's epicenter?

its where it started from so there is going to be more pressure there

Where did a magnitude 9.5 earthquake occur in 1960?

The epicenter for the 1960 Great Chilean Earthquake or Valdivia Earthquake happened near the city of Cantete about 100 miles south of the 2010 Chile earthquake.

Why can scientists accurately predict where an earthquake will occur?

Because the fault line will act up and that is a warning sign of a earthquake.

How can energy released at an earthquake's focus deep inside Earth can cause damage on the surface many kilometers from the epicenter?

The energy of the seismic waves that reach the surface is greatest at the epicenter. The most violent shaking during an earthquake however may occur kilometers away from the epicenter. The types of rock and soil around the epicenter determine where and how much the ground shakes.
