We have always been proud of being a "melting pot" country, where immigrants can come and become productive citizens. One of the best tools has historically been that everyone gets an education, for free. Being able to speak and understand English, read, do math, and understand how government works helps individuals manage their lives in a level playing field. We try to help provide the income, housing and other needs, but ultimately it is the skills that they learn through education that will earn these.
