Coal isn't all that difficult to get; there are hundreds of coal mines scattered over much of the North America, and central Europe has a lot of a soft "brown coal" called lignite. There's also plenty of coal in China and Central Asia. Much of British industry depended on coal mining, and coal-fired steam engines powering pumps to drain the deep coal mines bootstrapped most of the Industrial Revolution.

If you want some coal, it can be delivered in dumptruck loads.
