There is no reason why day curtains have to be translucent. It is down to personal choice. Translucent materials allows the occupier to see that there is daylight outside without having to pull aside the curtains. Many people prefer a yellowish coloured translucent material as it is more sun-like and mimics a sunny day (even in Winter!).
Nothing is "made of translucent". Translucent is a property of materials. It's not a material in its own right.
Curtains/Drapes, can be made from cotton, linen, or wool.
The value of curtains is determined by the quality and material used to make them. You can find curtains for as low as $19. 99 and as high as $1,000 for curtains made with expensive material.
Some theatre drapes are made of a guaze or quilted fiberglass material
No. They can be made of any material including leather.
Canopy beds are traditionally double beds with a 4 poster frame around them. This frame holds up a material of choice around the bed to give an effect of curtains. The same system can be used in single beds if required. The material used is usually a net material or something translucent.
The cost of canopy curtains relies heavily on the material used. Walmart sells such curtains for as little as $7.97, while custom made curtains run as high as $1000 or more.
It depends on where you are. Most places and people interchange the two terms. From what I have seen Drapes are typically the lined nicer fabric that drapes from a rod to the floor and are considered more formal. Curtains can go anywhere, like above the sink in the kitchen, and are considered more casual. The primary difference between drapes and curtains is the material they are made from. Drapes are made of a heavier material than traditional curtains.
Shower curtains are made of different materials and the most common and popular shower curtains are made of vinyl, plastic or fabrics. Even in fabrics, polyester material is preferred because it is water-resistant and does not get wet. With the growing demand for eco-friendly products, certain types of vinyl curtains are being developed that do not harm your health or environment.
Some outdoor curtains which have great durability and wear include the WeatherSmart and Sunbrella curtains. They are both made of durable material, and have been tested to withstand various weather situations.
You all ready know the answer to this question. No, not unless it is made of glass, has a window, or a translucent material.
The only dust-proof curtains I could find were made of PVC material. I'm not sure those would be the best on windows! I did see where you could periodically wash your curtains in the clothes washer, dry them, and that would get rid of the dust.
