To function properly, the human body must have vitamins, nutrients, and substances from food. I can't give you a full descriptive answer, but heres an example. Think of your body as a city. Food goes into your body like "supplies and products" going into a city. These are inturn broken down and the body takes what it needs for energy and fuel to maintain it's inner workings. Without food, your body will eat the fat and protein stored inside to survive. More or less like a city using emergency food supplies stored for a disaster.
