If your heart is not open to love, then you are living a superficial life, not accepting anyone into your life beyond a superficial level. important for you to like and to love yourself so you will get respect . By doing all these things a person should become wise enough to realize that no human is perfect in every way, but in each person there is something special about themselves that they can pass onto others. You can only love yourself if you realize you are a good person that makes mistakes; learns from them; is loyal, honest and can be trusted by those around them. These are good characteristics in a human being. If you do not love and respect yourself then you cannot expect others to respect you.
