Waste in the workplace implies that something is discarded that has a cost attached to it, i.e. office supplies, food, etc. Because these items cost money, by minimizing waste, you are minimizing expenses. Minimizing expenses is important as it directly effects a company's bottom line, i.e. profit and the goal of most every company is to increase their profit. As well, since our culture is going more green every day, some employees and customers will only do business or work for companies that have some sense of a recycling program. Minimizing waste can help increase sales, by increasing customer patronage, as well as giving a company the ability to attract top performers who wouldn't otherwise consider working for a company that doesn't recycle.
