Many businesses and institutions have areas that are off-limits to the general public or to any other "unauthorized" persons. For example, many doors in airports are clearly marked restricted. If someone was allowed to wander through, they could fall, be injured, or could cause problems that interfere with work. The same applies to hospital labs, manufacturing companies, coal mines, hospitals, etc. As well, some areas are restricted to prevent theft or crime from being committed.
