DNA is essentially a chain of 4 reoccurring bases in varying sequences bonding in specific ways, resulting in an almost limitless amount of possibilities. Certain sequences do repeat and have known functions, some of which will start/stop certain processes or even cause a genetic disease. DNA can be manipulated (like in gene therapy) by adding and removing certain sequences of DNA and then having that cell multiply so that the healthy genes can be spread.
