This is because of stereotypes. It goes along with the saying "one bad banana ruins the entire bunch". People think that just because some of the Mexicans are that way all Mexicans must be that way. Also, television is meant to be entertaining and rarely shows what real life is like. Sometimes the take that Hollywood takes isn't the best and can be offensive to some but if it sells they will keep doing what they do.
