V6 or 4 ? Fuel filter was changed? service engine light on?
fuel is always tricky ,but by process of elimination we know its not the fuel pump probably never was , i suspect fuel pressure regulator or even fuel filters always a good idea to check presure on the fuel rail going to the regulator and start with the cheapest fix first ,for example fuel filters are cheap ,regualtors cost under a hundred bucks yet a fuel pump in tank can be very costly,if you did it your self ,you've just learned a valuable lession ,if you had a mechanic diagnose this for shame on him .once you've exausted these items sensors would be the next most likely culprits
