Female cockatiel who doesnt have a mate but she laid a egg today how can take it out of the cage and away from her with out her being upset?
remove her from the cage then remove egg

The cockatiel does not need a nest for sleeping. Nests are not used for sleeping, they are strickly a breeding/mating thing. DO NOT put a nest in a cage with a female cockatiel as it will make her produce unfertile eggs and could cause her a great deal of harm.

Just guessing here. There are bad birds sometimes, just bad wiring. The odd of you getting two of them, slim. Birds tend to get aggressive for a reason. Very often from not being handled enough. Are you treating the new one the same way you did the old one? They have to be handled properly for them to trust you. Are their wings clipped? That tends to subdue most birds.

Yes this is fine. Cockatiel's are quite happy being pets as long as they receive a lot of attention. However, a companion is usually much appreciated by your cockatiel whether he or she mates or not.

They do not get pregnant, as reproduction is done through the laying of eggs. The eggs take about three weeks to form properly in the body, but this is not called "pregnancy". Chances are high that your cockatiel may just be keeping herself occupied. Being curious and intelligent birds, they need something to do. If there is no male with her, give her plenty of bells and toys, and other items to "chew" on. If there is a male, she may be ready to breed, so you should try and provide her with a nesting box.

Just leave it in the cage. If it's not fertilized she should figure that out soon enough and not care, then you can take it out.

Take the hint from her and realize you are aggressive and have no right to treat anyone that way. By being aggressive towards her you are harassing her. Stop bothering her!

This does occur in some female dogs and should not be a concern. She should be O.K. within a few weeks.
