Latin is the language of science, because it causes less confusion than trying to communicate with foreign scientists using all the local names of an organism (or cases where the same name means different animals/plants, for example catfish can mean the whiskered fish, but in Dutch the same word means squid...). The one Latin scientific name overrules that confusion.
