"Muhammadanism" implies several things: 1. It may imply that we adore and worship Muhammad as the Christians adore and worship Jesus. We do not worship Muhammad, Jesus or anyone else; only God alone do we worship. 2. It implies that Muhammad's message began with him. But Islam, to us, began with Adam and continued through all the true prophets - including Moses and jesus. Islam means: peace through submission to the will of the One God. 3. It implies that Muhammad's message was made - up by him. Islam is the final message of God to humanity. As such, God gave this way of life its name in the very text of the Qur'an. "This day I have completed my favor upon you and have chosen Islam as your way of life..." So why call it by a man-made name when God has given it a name?

I am not aware of the specific names of the Americans issued death threats on this issue, but they were targeted for having made "offensive" comments about Islam, Muslims, or Mohammed. Islamists do not respect the freedom of speech when that speech is strongly critical of Islam, Muslims, or Mohammed. Not only do they believe that Muslims have to respect Mohammed, but Non-Muslims must also respect him. It is important to note that most Muslims are not Islamists and the overwhelming majority of Muslims would not threaten the lives of other human beings regardless of their beliefs or words.
