It will affect the speedometer. For example, bigger rims will make you go faster than what the speedometer is actually reading. If it say's 50mph with regular rims, then with larger rims you will be going faster.
speedo cable?
The size of tires can effect that accuracy of a speedometer. Larger tires will cause the speedometer to read less than you are actually going.
it could affect the speedometer reading, (actually going faster than is indicated), and abs operation would be affected as wheel speed would change.
Could be a faulty sensor
If you change the size of the diameter of the original size of tire , YES If you go LARGER in diameter , you will actually be going FASTER then your speedometer indicates and If you go SMALLER in diameter , you will actually be going SLOWER than your speedometer indicates
Speedometers work by measuring rotations of the wheels. The more rotations, the faster your going. But they can't measure in reverse.
Speedometer reading will be over by 3%.
The speedometer in any vehicle does not stop a car from going faster, which many cars can go much faster than the speedometers highest number. Sometimes vehicles are limited from the factory to achieve a speed lower than that on the speedometer like my 2006 silverado says 120 but does only 99. However your truck can go faster than 85 mph.
find a stretch of federal free way and drive at speedometer reading of 60 miles per hour for 10 miles . have a passenger with a stop watch measure time between mile markers. record the time you get on the stop watch, a watch reading of less time of 60 seconds will tell you that you are going faster than the speedometer is reading if it is 57 seconds (five over) or if it takes more than 60 seconds per marker it is reading (5 under).60 divided by the seconds of a stop watch times 60 will tell you miles per hour.60/ 57(stop watch reading from marker to marker) x60 equals 63.15 miles per hour.
Yes, if you get bigger tires it will say you are going slower than you are, and visa versa, you can go to a mechanic to get it recalibrated
reading. it doesn't even have to be a boring book, it just makes you tired.
