Check the furnace fan and count your pets. If you need to remove the cover on the unit , you may invalidate your warranty , and it can be dangerous . That's why HVAC techs go to school.
Added 2010-10-20: so, the air conditioner is running (operating) and the fan is running (operating) but no expulsion of air of any temperature. I experienced the same symptoms with my central air. I removed the fan guard, usually a door with a finger-turned lock, and noticed that the "nest" was clogged with ice. We'll call the "nest" the radiator. The freon is sent from the outside condensor through the tubing to the inner part of the air conditioning setup, to the radiator. Much like air passes through the radiator of a car. In the case of the house air, the freon is cooling the radiator and the oscillating (sp) fan is forcing air through the radiator. The air is cold and travels to the rooms in your house. The freon is then returned to the condensor outside as a liquid and inter-mixed and then sent again through the process. What causes you to hear a normally operating air conditioner system but no air, and, of course, no cooling, is that the radiator is CLOGGED WITH ICE. Everything is operating well, the sounds are normal, the noise is normal, but since the radiator is clogged, no air is passing through. This is the problem you will feel when you are about to remove the radiator guard and you feel air blowing out - it's because it has to go somewhere and you have just made a pathway for it. Low on freon? probably. Leak? hope not. $ $ $
If dust is coming from your air conditioner, you did not put in a filter. You will ruin your air conditioner running it without a filter. Also, the vents will get dusty. You need to clean them.
is your fan running in the correct direction? are any of your ducts blocked?
Make sure your air filter is clean. A dirty air filter can block air flow. If both the fan and the compressor are coming on, there may be a low charge. If only the fan is coming on, the compressor could be burned up.
In temp vs out temp should be about 18 degrees different if running top notch.
Check your furnace fan. The air conditioner unit can be running but the air circulation is usually done with the fan on the furnace. If you have a fan switch on the thermostat, check to see if it is in the auto position. If it has the settings on/auto/off, you can switch it to the on position and see if you get any air movement then. If not, you could have a broken belt.
If you are running your central heating/air conditioner unit to cool your home, moisture will condense on the cooling coil inside the unit and should drain out to the outside or will be pumped out. This will lower the humidity in your house. The question is to vague, but I suspect a coil pan leaking 90% or better furnaces are also condensing and generate water.
That is condensation and it is normal for water to come out of an air conditioner in the back of it.
It have battery
A smell coming from a reverse cycle air conditioner may be a signal that the filter needs to be cleaned. A smell like engine exhaust might be present if the air conditioner motor is in need of repair.
I get hot air coming out of my air conditioner on the passenger side, while I get cold air coming out the drivers side. Can you tell me why and how do I find the schematic to fix it?
The air conditioner is low on refrigerant.
The problem with bare foot running is that the leg would have nothing to absorb the pounding as you are running and having your total body weight coming down on your feet all the time would cause some serious injuries.
