There are several possible reasons.
- The original diagnosis may not be accurate, you should call the doctor.
- The bacteria being treated is resistant to the antibiotic you are using. You should call the doctor.
- There may be a viral infection in addition to the bacterial infection. You should call the doctor.
- The antibiotic you are using may have been rendered ineffective. It may be old or subject to temperatures that render the antibiotic ineffective. Call the doctor or pharmacist.
- The antibiotic may have been taken with food that reduces it effectiveness or it should have been taken with food but wasn't. Check with your doctor or pharmacist.
- The antibiotic may have not been take as directed. Did you skip dosages or days?
In any event, if it isn't working, get in touch with your doctor again.
