The nucleus is a membrane bound structure that contains the cell's hereditary information. The nucleus is present in the cell because it controls the cell's growth,reproduction

and the cells activities. If a cell could not control its activities, it would not be able to gather the nutrients it needs to survive, that is why it is vital that the nucleus is present in a cell.

The nucleus is enclosed by nuclear membrane which controls what enters and leaves the nucleus.
