Because when rock first came along it was originally on the acoustic guitar because the electric input and amp had not been fully developed. The drums were quickly incorporated with early rock. Most early rock is often included with country because it includes simple I, IV, V progressions. The bouncing bass you find in country is similar to early rock because of the instrument they are played on. The acoustic guitar only allows for a bouncing rhthym because all the rest is for chords. The invention of the electric bass made the "new" rock sound by allowing much more to be done. The bass can span 3 octaves easily depending on the key to where the acoustic was only allowed a limited movement in 3/4 octave. That early sound didn't start getting different until the bass came out.
Country music, pop, and rock
Rock is better, if you prefer faster music with more electric guitar. Country is better, if you prefer softer music with more acoustic guitar. Both rock and country are great music genres, but which one is "better" is just an opinion.

Hank Williams, Sr. ~ Country Music. Hank Williams Jr. ~ Country Rock Music.
Country music was created in the 1920 when people in theAppalachian mountains took out their guitar and sung old folk music. Rock started when Cleveland DJ was playing Rhythm and Blues for a multi ethnic community and called it rock and roll that was in the 1940s
That depends on where you live. I'd suggest that country music is more popular in rural communities and rock more so in urban communities. Country music is virtually non-existent in Europe but very popular in the USA and Australia.
Country music is definitally old, it dates back before the 1900s
