Because the engines will not run with the wrong fuel to to their design.

Although both diesel and petrol engines are internal combustion engines, they have differences that enable them to use these different fuels.

A petrol engine ignites the fuel/air mixture by using a spark plug. A diesel engine in contrast has no spark but compresses air during the compression cycle. When air is compressed it heats up. Diesel is then injected into the cylinder and it ignites.

Where 2 stroke diesel and petrol engine used?

two stroke diesel engine is used in cargo ships as cross head type engines, two stroke petrol engines used in two wheelers.

Can petrol engine oil be used for a diesel engine?

No it cannot. Petrol and Diesel are different.

Why otto cycle used for petrol engine and diesel cycle for diesel engine?

A standard 20 to 1 otto cycle is used for the petrol and diesel cycles for diesel engines. It is higher than gasoline engines due to the way diesels burn and compress fuel.

Why petrol csnnot be used in diese engine?

The diesel engine is designed to use diesel, which reaches combustion at high (relatively to petrol) pressure and temperature. If petrol is injected into a diesel engine, then combustion will take place in a, very different than it was designed, way, which will eventually destroy the engine. But there are engines that have been designed to burn diesel or petrol. They call them bifuel engines. Old farmer tractors used to have this kind of engines.

What is the difference between petrol and diesel engines?

diesel engines doesn't use spark plug but uses heater plug.petrol engines produces more torque than petrol engines but petrol engines produces more acceleration than diesel engines.petrol engine is faster to be heated than diesel engine.

What are the defferences between dessel and petrol engine?

Petrol & Gas engines are spark ignited engines where as diesel engines are compression ignited engines. Petrol engines works with explosion of fuel air mixture due to spark from spark plug inside the cylinder. Diesel engines works with combustion of fuel air mixture due to compression, compressed mixture attains a very high temperature which exceeds the flash point of diesel and starts burning inside the cylinder and the hot gases after burning of fuel misture exerts force on piston which makes the diesel engines work. Diesel engines are highly efficient than petrol engines.

Do Toyota corolla cars in 1990's have diesel engines?

Yes, you can change the engine of a Toyota used car from diesel to petrol or LPG Gas. Some D2 engines are used in late models already have diesel engines.

Is the petrol engine is costly thab diesel engine?

No, diesel engines cost more to build than petrol engines. They are built much heavier.

Can diesel oil be used in a petrol engine or vice versa?

Because , petrol is ignited before or on reaching the dead center at low temparature. But diesel burns at high temp also that's why petrol is not sufficient to diesel engines.

What are diesel and gas engines?

Both are internal combustion engines that can be used to drive vehicles, generators, etc. One is fuelled by diesel, and the other one uses gas (USA), petrol (UK). Both diesel and petrol is derived from refined crude oil.

Differences between petrol and diesel engines?

sic difference between Petrol and Diesel engines that the difference of fuel and their mixture..in diesel we only compresses the Air and sprays Diesel but in Petrol Engines we compresses both the air and Petrol together and gets burnt with the the help of spark given by the Spark plug. I must add this, also the thermodynamic cycle is so different in diesel engines rather than petroleum engines. You can fined more in Reed's series volume 12

What is ddis technology in maruti cars?

DDIS means Direct Diesel Injection system which are used in diesel engines. It's similar to VVT (variable Valve timing) which are used in petrol engines.
