∙ 11y agoAll energy in the food chain originates from the sun. Herbivores get their energy from plants which conduct photosynthesis. Carnivores get their energy from the herbivores they eat. Additionally, one of the byproducts of photosynthesis (oxygen) is also essential for cellular respiration.
