Pie tasting bad is an opinion. I have a little sister who just loves pie. I agree that some flavors of pie aren't that great, but if you keep looking, I'm sure you can find a flavor that is OK.

Can you make a pie filling look bad yet taste amazing?

Yes, it is quite possible to make pie fillings that look bad yet taste amazing. If one had never seen chocolate - a brown, gooey, pasty mass - it might look very bad indeed. Yet most people agree that gooey chocolate is quite delicious. The same might be said for pumpkin, mincemeat and many other pie fillings.

What does cherry pie taste like?

Some people do indeed enjoy pie, and the ones that do, enjoy the flavors and aroma of it. It stimulates your taste buds, letting off a yummy taste, so to speak. Your taste buds are little nerves that send messages to the brain telling it what the pie tastes like. That's how you identify the flavour.
