In order to answer this question lets bring clarity to the discussion. First we must understand that Seventh-day Adventists believe in and honor as Holy, the entire Bible from OT to NT. We do not believe in taking parts of the Holy Bible and leaving other parts to suit our needs. The same God who is present in Genesis 1:1, is the same God we serve in Revelation 22:21.

With that said, we take our understanding of dietary customs, restrictions, and beliefs as God outlines, from Leviticus 11.

Lev 11:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,

Lev 11:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.

Lev 11:3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.

Lev 11:4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

Lev 11:5 And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

Lev 11:6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

Lev 11:7 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.

As you can see from verse 7, the swine/pig is unclean. The swine/pig and many other animals are STILL unclean and should not be eaten.

Now there are those who would use the account of Peter in Acts 10 to say that God has cleansed all animals and now it's OK to eat ALL animals. Let's look at Acts 10 carefully.

First, Peter was commanded by God to go to the Gentiles to preach the Gospel. (vs 28) It was known in those days that Jews had no dealings with "other nations". Second, Peter was hungry when he was on the rooftop, and fell asleep. As in today's time, so it was in Peter's time, anytime you fall asleep hungry, what most likely will you dream about? FOOD! So God, in His wisdom, used Peter's hunger to make a point. Remember that this was not a literal account but it was a DREAM/Vision! So Peter was not literally going to kill and eat an unclean animal.

God used the sheet with all manner of beasts and told Peter to "kill and eat" (because I know you're hungry). Peter, being a Jew knew that he was not allowed to eat unclean animals and told God so (vs 14). God did this 3 times to reinforce a point with Peter.

But lets look at the response of God to Peter's knowledge that he was not to eat unclean things. "And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common." (vs 15)

God had not cleansed the animals. What God is talking about here is the Gentile nation. Peter was not to call any man that God has cleansed "common or unclean" (vs 28). Because of Calvary, because of Jesus' blood, because of Jesus' sacrifice, the Gospel was now available to all people. His blood had "cleansed" the Gentiles and God was letting Peter know that he needed to go and begin having "dealings" with the "other nations". The rest of Acts 10 outlines this when Peter finally goes and begins preaching, and the Holy Ghost falls on the Gentiles as well (vs 45).

The main reason that Seventh-day Adventists say not to eat pork is because it is mentioned in The Bible as an unclean meat, together with other things like vultures and squid. In addition, it is highly unhealthy for you :)

ask doctor Oz to compare a person who has been eating pork all their life and somebody who hasn't eating pork at any time in their life :):):)

God Bless :)
