Some plants cant grow in other places because every piece of land has its own texture and soil that some plants cant grow in, take sand or clay for example. What types of plants do you think can't grow there? Think about it.

Lolli6627's answer:

It is important to save animal habitats because they provide the animal with their basic needs.

  • Food (For nourishment, nutrients and minerals for energy, and therefore the survival of the animal)
  • Water (unless it obtains it's hydration from it's food)
  • Shelter (for protection)
  • Mating grounds (for reproduction)
  • It's own territory (if it is territorial)

If these are not available to an animal because it hasn't got a suitable habitat, this can lead the animals to extinction in the wild, or totally wipe them out. This would mean a huge affect to the ecosystem in which it lives, affecting the food chain. If the species is extinct from habitat destruction, it is highly likely more animals will be directly affected because of food shortages.

If an animal species eat pests, this will also become a nuisance to humans and other animals in and near the habitat.

A good example of habitat destruction is the tropical forests that are home to Orangutans. Their habitat is being used for palm oil plantations, and if an Orangutan gets seen eating the plants it is shot. There are many programs to prevent the extinction, including the protection of the habitat and re-introducing the animal into the habitat to reproduce and raise the population.

I hope this answers your question!
