What is a thread path on a sewing machine?

Thread is the name for the string used in sewing. It is usually very thin, so that it is easily put through the eye of a needle and pulled through fabric. It is sold in many colors, and in many different weights.

How do you thread the bobbin for a Euro-Pro 385X 32 stitch sewing machine?

How do you thread a universal sewing machine model kat?

The thread must come from the FRONT of the upright spool on the back of the machine. Thread through the small eyelet on the back (nearest the spool(s), projecting from the top), then through the thread guide at the front of the machine. If you are using a double needle (therefore two spools of thread), the thread from the left-hand spool should go through the top hole and the thread from the right-hand spool through the bottom hole. Come down to the tension disks. Bring the thread through the back disk, up again under the wire guide, and down under the thread guide that is just to the left of the tension disks. Bring the thread through the eye of the take-up lever (the piece that moves up and down when you sew) from RIGHT to LEFT. Guide the thread back down through the thread guide next to the tensioner. There is a little thread guide just inside the door on the left side of the machine; bring the thread through this guide. Then pull the thread through the wire guide above the needle (it's easiest to hold the thread horizontally to do this). Thread the needle front to back. HTH. YMMV.

When done with an embroidery how do you pull the top thread through to the underside to tie it off?

You thread a needle with the thread you want to pull through, pass the needle into the material slightly within the margins of the pattern and pull the thread through. You don't really have to pull the top thread through to tie off because the stitch density is high enough to lock the thread, you can clip close. If you feel the need, unpick a few stitches (don't rip them, unravel the top and bobbin threads) until you have enough length to work with, pull the top thread through the fabric with the bobbin thread ad tie them together. When you change top thread, lay a short tail of the previous color and the new thread across the next pattern section and the thread will be locked. Same idea when you change the bobbin thread

How do you sew buttons on overcoat?

Get thread of the right colour, thread it onto a needle, tie a knot on the end of the thread to stop it slipping all the way through the fabric. Push the needle from the inside of the coat to the outside at the place where the button wants to go. Thread the button over the needle so it is sitting on the right place in the coat. push the needle back through the button and coat making sure you go through a different hole on the button so that the button is held onto the coat. Repeat these steps many times until the button is held firmly and looks like a normal button. With the needle on the inside of the coat do a few stitches through the bunch of thread in order to stop it coming undone then cut the thread. You now have a working button!

Do you use special thread to hand quilt?

Yes. Hand quilting thread is a little thicker and stronger than regular sewing thread, and has a smoother finish. Some hand quilting thread is waxed so that it pulls through the layers of fabrics easier.

Is viscose thread a good choice for quilting?

There are many different opinions on which thread is ideal for quilting. A good rule of thumb is to choose a thread made of the same material as the fabric you are using. For example: I would choose cotton thread if I am using cotton fabric, but if I am using a synthetic fabric (like polyester) I would choose a synthetic thread-- like viscose rayon or polyester. It is best to use the same materials for your fabric and thread so that when washed and dried, everything shrinks evenly.

What supplies are needed to make quilts?

The basic supplies are needls and thread and material and scissors. There are a lot of great quilting books for beginners like, 'The Joy Of Quilting' and '101 Fabulous Rotary Quilts'. There are many others as well and the store where you buy the supplies will probably have books on quilting as well.

What type of thread should you use for machine sewing some bleeding madras fabric into pocket squares?

Any 100% cotton or poly cotton sewing thread should work well for madras fabric. You should use a dull, neutral color that will blend in with the primary background tone of the madras. You should not use buttonhole twist, basting or quilting thread.
