Canned tuna is cooked. You can eat it straight out of the can because of this. Tuna changes color when cooked, like most fish and other meats.

How many calaories in a scoop of tuna?

Lots of variables here. Canned tuna in water (6.5 oz) has about 200 calories, in oil the calories go up to about 350 calories. If mixed with mayonnaise, could add 50 calories per TBSP unless it's made with the light variety. Seemed like a good protein source until several years ago, when the FDA issued health alerts warning pregnant women not to eat tuna more than once a month. This was bitterly contested by the tuna manufacturers, but was not refuted. The concern was about unhealthy mercury levels found in tuna, even more so in the white albacore variety. It has been reported that the largest amounts of mercury ingested by the population comes from mercury in fish sources (esp large fish like tuna, swordfish) as well as air pollution from the 600 coal-fired power plants in the U.S. If you're eating the fish for fish oil, use the caps instead. If eating tuna for protein, try including more chicken (avoid red meat) or soy-based products.

Why is tuna rarely found on a restaurant menus?

Tuna has a reputation as a cheap and low-class fish, which would steer expensive restaurants away from it (though they sometimes do offer tuna "steaks," filets prepared like other more traditional fish dishes). More basic, inexpensive restaurants may be afraid it would be seen as too commonplace to be "special" like most people want on restaurant menus. Sandwich shops commonly offer tuna salad, though, and I have seen tuna casserole on at least one restaurant menu (it was a "home cooking" restaurant, though). Because of health issue Tuna is rarely found in restaurant menu Tunas have a distinctive red myoglobin rich flesh that is moderately high in fat. Mercury levels can be relatively high in some of the larger species of tuna such as bluefin and albacore. As a result, in March 2004 the United States FDA issued guidelines recommending pregnant women, nursing mothers and children limit their intake of tuna and other types of predatory fish. However, most canned light tuna is skipjack tuna and is lower in mercury. The Chicago Tribune reported that some canned light tuna such as yellowfin tuna is significantly higher in mercury than skipjack tuna, and caused Consumer Reports and other health groups to advise pregnant women to refrain from consuming canned tuna.

Do bouncy balls enjoy tuna?

Yes. If it's spicy tuna with those little red bits in it. And don't forget the salt and pepper! I think the color of the bouncy ball can determine what type of tuna it prefers- for example, I feel that all balls from red to purple enjoy red bit tuna, but black, grey, and white balls prefer mild tuna in casserole form, with a drizzle of garlic upon it. So yes, next there are starving bouncy ball children at your door, you'll know what to feed them. Have a nice day and don't forget to check out my latest answered question- do forks have eyebrows? Who wouldn't want to know that?
