Some benefits of salad are you are consuming a number of different vegetables in this, therefore consuming a number of important vitamin and minerals. Salads are mainly low in fat and salt so they are healthier than eating something like a burger.

Except for the Salad dressing, the salads are just veggies and fruits. Choose low fat or low quanitity of dressing and you should do good. I really like the poppyseed salad dressings with fruits (pineapple chunks, strawberries) and veggies (Spinach)

The fibre content is at it's most effective when raw, and the vitamin and mineral content within the food is also at it's maximum because the vegetables have not been cooked (which removes most of the vitamins and minerals in the vegetables). Your body benefits hugely when eating salad as opposed to cooking the veges, which are still ok, but nowhere as good for you as fresh salad.
