Great whites, tiger sharks and bull sharks have been known to attack people, viewing them as prey. Great whites, in particular, occasionally mistake surfers for seals, as they have a similar outline when viewed from below. Other than those species, the majority of shark attacks result from people provoking that sharks, which then bite in self-defense.
Sharks are killed by humans far more often than humans are killed by sharks.

∙ 16y agoThe reason sharks are dangerous. is the same reason bears or any other animals are dangerous. When they think they are in danger or you are threatening to them they will automatically switch to self defense mode and will then attack. You never want to touch a shark corner it or splash make quick movements or do anything of that sort or they will believe that you are wanting to hurt them or you are personalizing their territory and attack. So whatever you do do not show or do anything like that and you will be fine.
