shiwalik is made up of unconsolidated sediments and is the lowermost part of the himalayas.it is found near river valleys which erodes the soil and hence prone to landslides .it is also located near the boundary of a tectonic plate and hence more prone to earthquake.

Yes. Even without an eruption a dormant volcano may be prone to earthquakes, landslides, and gas emissions.
There are two reasons. First, the movement along plate boundaries and the accompanying folding and faulting can create hills and mountains. If the slopes become too steep they are unstable and prone to landslides. Second, movement along plate boundaries also generates earthquakes, which can trigger landslides.

New Orleans is an area of the United States prone to a couple of different natural disasters. The area is prone to hurricanes and tornadoes.
Sometimes persons do not place themselves in such locations. However some do, others that don't , usually are affected as a result of some tectonic activity or eventual slope instability that results in landslides . Eg earthquakes prone or slopes affected by deforestation.
Compared to tornadoes, yes. Tornadoes generally do not cause much erosion. With storms, it is tricky, as many landslides are triggered by storms. However, in areas prone to landslides, such events likely cause the greates portion of erosion.
