This is guess...first of all I know that many peri-anesthetic drugs are influenced by body temperature..and of course any systemic stress is going to prolong healing time, as well as make anaphylactic shock to any sort of foreign body (i.e. stitches) more prevalent. Hope this helps..

rejection is a possibility, or any other infection. But that is a major surgery, it wouldn't surprise me if fever is expected by the Dr's.
