Well forget about if they lied or not. I advice you should put your energy on improving your grades instead on worrying on what your friends told you.

Probably because they didn't want to trees bad about your grade. I would ignore it, unless your friend keeps talking behind your back repeatably.

Yes theme is the lesson you learn. I learned it in seventh grade with mr sturgeon, my seventh grade english teacher. It is really easy. Put a letter L up to your head and move the L back and force by saying "theme is the lesson you learn"
