You did not identify which calendar you mean by "ours", which in itself kind of answers your question. Around the world there are many different calendars being used, based on things like culture or religion. In terms of duration, some are based on the sun and some on the moon and some combining the two. So your calendar, be it the Islamic or Jewish or Gregorian or Bengali or one of the many others used, would be different to the Chinese calendar and all of the other ones.

Because in the Chinese Calendar, which is the Lunar Calendar, it is the New Year. The Lunar Calendar and Solar Calendar is different.
It is based on the moon instead of the sun.

There is no such thing as a Northern Ireland Calendar.
The Chinese new year is on a different date every year because it is based on the Chinese calendar, known as the lunisolar calendar. Typically date systems are usually based upon the Gregorian calendar.
A Chinese calendar is a lunisolar calendar, so based on the moon and the sun's year. It is also based on a 12 year cycle using 12 different animals.
because the Chinese calendar is different from the calendar used in the US
It is important because Chinese is a whole different culture than ours.
