The Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) or Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army are the largest group of guerrilla armies in Columbia. The origins trace back to the the civil war that started in 1948 between the Liberal and Conservative parties. With the leadership of Manuel "Sureshot" Marulanda, a group of people separated from the Liberal party, and officially formed FARC in 1966. They profit from kidnappings, extortion, and violence, but the majority of their money comes from illegal drugs, which are grown, harvested, and processed in Colombia.
FARC
FARC is an acronym for the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. FARC is known as a Marxist revolutionary guerrilla force who act as an arm of the Columbia communist party. They are believed to have strong ties with drug dealers.
Drug cartels and the FARC along with natural problems.
The Anti-FARC paramilitary organization was primarily known as the AUC, or the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia). Formed in the late 1990s, the AUC aimed to combat the influence and activities of FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) and other leftist guerrilla groups. The organization was involved in numerous human rights violations and was officially demobilized in the mid-2000s.
FARC was formed after a period of violence in Colombian history. The government was weak and guerrilla bands began to form. FARC developed from a Communist philosophy, attempting to promote land reform in Colombia with the support of the rural population.See the related link below for more information.
Yes FARC is a terrorist organnization. It attacks the country of Colombia. It is the oldest rebell aliance in the world that still works. The UN, USA, and Colombia have fought against it. The people of Colombia always march, sing, pray, argue, and fight for the captured civilians, political people, and military personnel. The FARC live in the Amazon rain forest, especially in the side of Venezuela. The Venezuelian president considers them as brothers, while the people do not think that way but are forced to do so. Venezuela, Nicaragua and Ecuador have, and may still be helping them. Hugo Chavez is the FARC's greates ally, and 3rd greatest enemy of Colombia, next to the FARC and the mafia. Like the Colombian mafia, the FARC makes alot of its money from narco-trafficing (may be spelled wrong) cocaine and marijuana. Because of the FARC, Colombia is still a poor country, it gives the country a bad reputation. A lot of the world's population knows Colombia only by cocaine, and think's that it is the country's largest export. It is not, Roses, Flowers, and mechanics are the largest export. In the last decade the FARC have lost many battles and their troops. The Colombian president, Alvaro Uribe, has dedicated most of his presidency to ending the FARC. Colombia loves this president, jest like the U.S. loves Lincoln, Obama, Washington, and Benjamin Franklin. The FARC have lost most of it's troops by surrender, the surrendering troops are interviewed and then given a new life to raise a family and have an honest job. The FARC have become even more peaceful, they have stopped kidnapping, and have released a lot of the kidnapped troops. The US is Colombia's most powerful allie, it has helped with technology and to train troops, even though American troops get easily sick in the jungle, since they are more trained for the desert. Colombia is at a strategic place because of its position. It is very fertile, most of the land has a tropical climate to grow good food, and the cold parts grow food that well grows in the cold. It is also the opening to central America. As well as having coasts to both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. It is also the best connection between Nicaragua, Venzuela, and Ecuador, who do not like the US. Without Colombia the whole south American continent would go against the US. I am sorry that I got out of topic but that is what I know, and yes I am a proud Colombian.
You are likely referring to the FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia), but they have not controlled the majority of Colombia at any point. In 2000, at its height, it controlled roughly 40% of the country. It now controls considerably less territory.
The largest guerrilla group in Colombia during the 1970s was the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Founded in 1964, FARC grew significantly in strength and influence throughout the 1970s, capitalizing on social and economic inequalities in rural areas. The group sought to establish a Marxist-Leninist state and engaged in various forms of armed struggle, including kidnappings and attacks on government forces. Their activities contributed to the ongoing internal conflict in Colombia, which persisted for several decades.
There are a number of left-wing terrorist organizations, such as FARC in Colombia, the Japanese Red Army, Shining Path, and Eco-Terrorist Groups.
Society is often very biased and favors the rich, so a group of lower-income people was formed to revolutionize the country. Though their motives were good, they eventually started killing people, etc. They are now named FARC and fight against the government. FARC soldiers are sometimes referred to as guerrilla.
jacobo tried to take down rojas grouop and put a comunist 1m and also thinks the columbian government abuses farc's control
In twenty-first century Colombian politics, the leftist political sector, particularly parties like the Colombia Humana movement and the Progressive Movement, may be expected to support FARC's electoral foothold. These groups share similar ideologies focused on social justice, peace, and addressing historical inequalities, which align with FARC’s goals post-peace agreement. Additionally, grassroots movements advocating for marginalized communities may also lend support to FARC's integration into the political landscape.
